James and Alison know that a great marriage is made up of love, commitment and regular camping trips. You can tell they have just the right amounts of communication and respect because they met while working at a local accounting firm and continue to work there happily together (talk about outstanding teamwork!)
Alison was lead down the aisle at the Cairns Presbyterian Church by dancers from the Cairns Scottish & Irish Dance Academy and after the ceremony friends and family were chauffeured to the reception at the Freshwater Connection by a specially chartered Kuranda Scenic Railway train. The wedding was a unique fusion of classic North Queensland elements mixed with fun vibes and a lot of personality.
James and Alison give some tips for planning a wedding:
What was unique about the wedding?
The train certainly provided a unique experience for the bridal party and guests. Contributions and assistance on the day by close family and friends made the day particularly special for Alison and James. There was also an important blend of Scottish and New Zealand traditions and touches to bring together our heritage.
Best parts of the day?
Alison enjoyed the whole day. It was special to be married in the Church she has grown up and where so many family events have taken place. James’ favourite part was the train as well as after the photos because the formal part was over and it was time to relax (he admits he was a little bit nervous!) They both enjoyed cruising around in Mustangs for the photos at the Cairns Botanic Gardens.
